Mangalore Style Sambar


Ingredients

Potato -1 cubed
Carrot -1 cubed
Beans - 5 chopped
Brinjal -1 cubed
Drumstick -1 cut into pieces
Onion -1 cubed
Tomato -1 cubed
Green chilli -1 slit into 4 pieces
Coriander leaves for garnishing
Boiled Dal- 1 cup
Mustard seeds - 1tsp
Red chilli -2 no
Curry leaves - 5 to 10
Haldi powder - A pinch
Hing powder - A pinch
Home made sambar powder - 3 tbsp
Tamarind water- 2 tbsp
Oil- 3 tsp
Salt to taste
Water as required


Recipe

1. Take a wok and add oil
2. Add mustard seeds and let it splutter.
3. Add curry leaves, red chilli and green chilli and saute for a min.
4. Next add some hing powder and mix well.
5. Its the time to add all vegetable and saute for 5 min.
6. At this point add add turmeric powder and homemade sambar powder.
7. Mix well, add water and cover lid and let vegies cook for 5 min.
8. After 5 min add salt to taste and again let them cook for 10 min.
9. Now add boiled dal and tamarind juice, give it a mix and cook for 5 min.
10. Lastly add coriander leaves and garnish.


Tasty Sambar is ready to relish with hot rice and ghee on top!!
